Red Light Sound Bath
The grand entrance hall goes dark except for three red light panels standing together in the middle of the room. You sit on your mat in a circle around them, in light activewear, while singing bowls sound from the centre.
Three nights of sound, cold and stillness in two neighbouring Victorian country houses near the North Yorkshire coast.
Early bird prices until 14 January 2027. From 15 January, prices rise by £50 per person.
On Saturday 20 March 2027, the spring equinox, day and night come into balance. Spend the weekend before it finding yours.
Join us for three nights in two neighbouring Victorian country houses in the village of Scalby, a few minutes' drive from Scarborough's beaches and the North York Moors. Arrive on Friday, meet fire and ice on Saturday, create and rest on Sunday, and leave on Monday feeling lighter.
Expect two headphone sound journeys, a red light sound bath, a guided hot and cold circuit with a cedar sauna and hot tubs under the stars, a gemstone workshop, a Saturday night spent cooking and eating together, and a free private Sekhem 1:1 for every guest. No experience needed. Just come as you are.
Founder of XLR8Well. Certified Holistic Practitioner (IPHM, sound healing) with a background in Kemetic and Sekhem energy work, and more than 20 years in hospitality and healthcare.
Not included: travel, Friday dinner, Saturday and Sunday lunches, your meal at the Sunday pub dinner, alcohol, extra Sekhem 1:1 sessions (£85 each) and travel insurance.

The grand entrance hall goes dark except for three red light panels standing together in the middle of the room. You sit on your mat in a circle around them, in light activewear, while singing bowls sound from the centre.

A gentle breathwork and movement session in the sunlit lounge to wake the body before the cold.

Choose your cold each round: one to three minutes in the ice bath on the terrace, with a guide beside you talking you through every breath, or the cold towel surprise: you lie on your mat in an eye mask and, at a moment you won't see coming, we drop a dripping, ice-soaked towel over you. Then warm up in the cedar sauna and the hot tub. Two or three rounds, finishing on cold, with water and robes waiting.

Each house has its own hot tub, open for self-use every evening until 21:45.

On Saturday evening we cook in teams in the country kitchen, then eat together. All ingredients provided. On Sunday we book a table for the group at a village pub, and you pay for your own meal. Friday evening is yours: walk to a village pub, order in, or use the kitchen.
Eye mask on, headphones in, fire lit. Layered soundscapes, tones and guided breath played right around you. It opens the weekend on Friday evening and gathers it together on Sunday.
Set an intention, then pour it into crystal-clear resin with dried flowers, gold leaf or crystal chips. It sets under UV light, and you take your pendant or keyring home.
A steady rhythm with plenty of space between sessions. Times may shift slightly on the day.
Saturday is alcohol-free. The hot tubs are self-use under our house rules and close at 21:45. Lunch on Saturday and Sunday is your own: use the kitchen or walk to the village. Your free Sekhem 1:1 is booked at check-in on arrival day, subject to practitioner availability. Sessions run from Friday night to Monday morning, mostly in the free afternoons.

A private hour of Sekhem, an energy practice rooted in the ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) tradition, with an IPHM Certified Practitioner. You rest on a mat in your own room or a quiet room in the house, in disposable underwear we provide (shorts or a thong, plus a bra for women), covered with towels throughout. Only the area being worked on is uncovered, while gentle touch, a little oil and weighted tuning forks work on the areas you agree to.
Every guest is offered one free session as our gift. Advance booking is required: choose your time at check-in on arrival day. Sessions depend on practitioner availability and run in pairs, one in each house: Friday at 21:00; Saturday at 13:30, 14:45 and 21:00; Sunday at 13:30, 14:45, 16:00 and 21:00; and Monday at 07:00. Spare times can be booked as a second session for £85. Sekhem is a relaxation practice, not a medical treatment.

Everyone completes a short health questionnaire and waiver before arrival. Cold immersion, sauna, hot tub and red light aren't suitable during pregnancy or with some heart, blood pressure, circulation or light-sensitivity conditions, and there's always a gentler option. Every session is optional, and rest is always welcome. Our sessions are for relaxation and wellbeing and are not medical treatments. Adults only (18 and over).
No. Each round you choose the cold plunge, the cold towel surprise, or simply the sauna and hot tub. Nobody does the cold alone, and nobody does it after alcohol.

A 30% deposit secures your place, and the balance is due by 15 January 2027. We email you a secure link for the balance, or you can pay in full when you book. Bookings made from 15 January are paid in full.

Every guest is offered one free session as our gift; book your time at check-in on arrival day, subject to practitioner availability.
Three self-service breakfasts (fresh bread, croissants, butter and jam, fruit, and scrambled or boiled eggs, or fry your own), help-yourself tea and coffee, and the Saturday team dinner are included. On Sunday evening we book a table for the group at a village pub, and you pay for your own meal. March on the coast is crisp, around 9°C, and almost everything happens indoors by the fire. If we ever have to cancel the retreat, including for severe weather, you get everything back, or you can move your place to a future date if you prefer.
